ChoreCircle grew out of small, everyday frustrations. Here's the world we're trying to build from them — told honestly, and without taking a cut.
It started with a half-built table
ChoreCircle didn't start with a business plan. It started with a flat-pack table that sat half-built for a week — because there was no easy way to pay a neighbour ten euros to lend a hand for twenty minutes.
Around the same time, a friend — capable, willing, in his thirties — kept being turned away from jobs that wanted experience in that exact industry, never mind the years of honest work he already had behind him in another. And in local groups online, teenagers kept asking the same quiet question: will anyone let me mow a lawn, carry some boxes, earn a little? The work existed. The willing hands existed. Nothing simple connected them.
ChoreCircle is the simplest thing we could build to close that gap — and to keep it from ever feeling like charity in either direction.
The money stays yours
We never touch it and we never count it — no escrow, no cut, no fee, and no record of what you actually get paid. You settle directly, however suits you both: cash, app, or a coffee. ChoreCircle is never in the middle of your money.
Open to overlooked hands
A first job at fifteen. Honest work at thirty-five without the “right” CV. ChoreCircle is built for the people formal hiring quietly passes over — and for the neighbours who'd gladly give them the work.
A community tool, not an ad machine
One small, clearly-labelled sponsor slot — never a feed full of ads, never a paywall on asking for help. The heart of ChoreCircle stays free, always.
How we keep the lights on
Running ChoreCircle costs money, and we'd rather be plain about how we cover it than tuck it away. The plan is modest: a single rotating slot for local sponsors, and an optional few-euro subscription for people who'd rather not see it. That's the whole model.
We will never take a percentage of the work you do for each other, and we will never sell your data. If any of that ever has to change, you'll read it here first.
We don't keep score of what you earn
ChoreCircle never records how much actually changes hands. There's no running total of your earnings, no income report, no number we could hand to anyone — because we simply never collect it.
That's a choice we made for the people who lean on this app the most: the teenager earning their first pocket money, the neighbour piecing together a hard month. The moment we counted what they made, we'd risk turning a little honest help into a tax case — and we won't be the reason someone scraping by gets messed up for trying to survive. What changes hands stays between the two of you; anything the law genuinely asks of you stays yours to handle.
Yes, young people can help here
Giving teenagers a safe first chance to earn is part of why we exist. When a minor helps indoors, an active TrustLink and a shared outdoor task come first — and the adult stays present and responsible throughout.
